Sam Bakken update....

I just got back from Arizona and headed over to see team rider Sam B. Sam got worked on the Harding rail while filming for the next shop video. He basically severed his intestine from his stomach. Pretty gnarly, his nurse said it is a very rare injury as we all know when hitting rails gutting one is a common occurance. He is doing well, today he walked twice as far as he did the day before and is pretty candid. Case in point as I walked in the room I was greeted with the typical middle finger, follwed by a what brings you here? Here is a pic of Sam in all his glory.
It sounds like he will be in the hospital on bed rest for about a week. I will update as I get them and visit. Stay up Sam!!

Trollhaugen Frost Bite Series...

The date is coming real real fast for the first Frost Bite Series date. Droppin on this Friday, December 4th at 6pm will kick off registration in the Trollhaugen game room. Comp will start at roughly 7-7:15pm, cost is $10 with virtually all of it going towards the terrain park maintenance cause that's how we roll. Divisions are 15 under, 16 up, Open and Girls.

EXISTENCE, PUTS MARK CARTER and HEIKKI SORSA ON THE TEAM,
CROWDS REJOICE AND EMBRACE IN THE STREETS
WORLDWIDE.
Here is what the dudes at Weekend have to say;
"After many rounds of board meetings and discussions with focus groups, we made a
decision. That decision was that we better look at some pie charts and graphs, and then
analyze that data and crunch some numbers to see what the best feature benefit
combination was to maximize sales.
Then, we made some prototypes and put them on snow and of course in the wind
tunnel. We heard all the big guys have wind tunnels now. Then we analyzed costs
some more, and then we did some more focus groups with key retailers and sales reps
and then we made a couple of rounds of changes to the second round of prototypes to
identify key demographic penetration.
Then we talked to key market influencers to determine their first impression retention of
the key selling points that the sales team would be coordinating during their
presentations. It was finally time to get things out to market….
Then we just scrapped that whole process and started a board company that reflects
what snowboarding is all about.
At Weekend, we believe your snowboard should be coveted, and not a commodity. All
of our boards are individually hand numbered and extremely limited edition. Once
they are gone they are gone, and that is just the way we like it.
For 2010, we have teamed up with legendary illustrator Steve Nazar, creator of the
iconic 1980’s Town and Country Surf Designs characters to illustrate the Lodge Series.
Each board is hand numbered, and only 150 of each size will be made.
All of our boards are handmade in the mountains of Austria by craftsmen (not factory
workers) who care about what you are riding, not by someone that has never even
seen snow in their life. What a concept that is, right?
Like any company worth their salt, we want to have a team that represents the true
meaning of the brand. So our first addition was Jackson Hole ripper Mark Carter. For
those in the know, Mark is a backcountry workhorse who lays it down whatever the
situation and we are damn proud to have him. Mark is filming for Absinthe and can be
found trolling the Jackson Backcountry on the Weekend Warrior™ snow machine daily
this winter putting together his part.

Banshee Bungee @ FLP

On Oct. 18th we have teamed up with Banshee Bungee to bring you a Pole Jam tow in event here at the Fl Project. Snow will be layed down in the parking lot, a pole jam will be set up and riders will be slung in courtesy of Banshee Bungee. Cost to compete is $15 to help defray the gas costs of trucking snow and $200 will be awarded to the winner(Best Trick). You can pre-register at the shop or the day of if you like. However, we are limiting entry spots so I would suggest doing the pre-reg gig. Day of registration will start at noon and we will start at 2pm. Also, if you are in need of gear we will be slangin deals that day in the shop too!

Every year now for the last couple years we have done a collaboration shirt with a group or crew of kids that come into the shop, support the shop daily and are actively involved in our scene like we are. The shop is like these guy's second home so naturally the crew that we chose for this go around is the Wizards. Wizards? YUP WIZARDS!

This shirt drops tomorrow as in Saturday, Sept. 12 the same day as our big Tent sale and the Videograss premiere. The colorway pictured here is limited in quantity. Once this colorway is sold out thats it! You will then have to wait for the next color.

Pat recently stopped in before he left for Mt hood to get some summer shredding in and all around radness. So, I decided to flip the page on him and instead of him coming in for answers from me, I wanted some myself. Here is what Transpired.

PW: Hey Pat!
PC: What up?

PW: Not much just the norm. How about you, what's the summer shake down?
PC: I've been working a bunch, playin tennis, surfing the net( ya, we all know what that means in Pats world) and hangin out.

PW: I see, any big plans coming up?
PC: Heading to Hood in a couple days to shred and do some blogging for the K2 site

PW: Hell yeah that's rad! Hey, what's on your left hand? Did you get married and forget to tell some people?
PC: Naw, it's a promise ring

PW: Oh, I thought you went Jonas brothers on us and was going to say a purity ring.
PC: Well, that too
PW: Ahhh, Ok?

PW: When we were in Vegas for the SIA show you were headed from there to do some filming. How did that go?
PC: We got a little fimling done in Tahoe with the NC Production guys, hit some pow pow and other fun things. But of course not nearly as much filming as I would have liked to get done.

PW: Who's vid part is going to blow minds this year?
PC: Ethan Deiss and the Videograss vid is going to be banger

PW:If you could change one thing about snowboarding what would it be?
PC: It's that kids would worry more about having fun and not be so worried about getting sponsored.
PW: Agree!

We are in need of one more design for our back to school 2009 line up. Now is your chance to put the pen to the paper or murder out a design on your computer. You are in full graphic control, if you want to use the shop name in your design go for it, if not no worries we will add one on the sleeve or back print. A little heads up about Go Skate Day this SUNDAY at the St. Croix skate park.

They are having a bake sale to raise more money to be able to add on to the park! So, if there are any bakers in your family and you are headed to St. Croix this Sunday. Do your part and bring something to sell at the bake sale = make your park even better!

Forum Snowboards has just released the teaser for their upcoming film Forever. Forum’s 6th team-inspired film stars Peter Line, Joni Malmi, Eddie Wall, Jake Blauvelt, Pat Moore, John Jackson, Stevie Bell, Jake Welch, Nic Sauve, Daniel Ek, and Niko Cioffi and covers terrain from remote backcountry to deep city sessions. From the look of it, Forever should be right up there with The Resistance and Forum or Against’em.

Proof Video Premiere...

Proof is a new video project by the creators of Forecast.. It will feature parts from Paul Rodriguez, Darrell Stanton, Nyjah Huston, Keelan Dadd, Josh Grossguth and more...The editing is suburb and if the skating is anything like Forecast this video is banger for sure.

Premiere date will be known once we know when the video will be at the shop. I am shooting for May 8th and will know more mid week. If it's not the 8th then the 15th.
Once I have a solid date I will post the flyer.
